Two-Day Training on the Impact of Human Factors on Safety in Aircraft Engine Production and Maintenance Held at “Orao”
A two-day initial and refresher training on the aviation standard RM13010 was held at “Orao” a.d. Bijeljina. The training focused on understanding and applying requirements related to human factors in the design and production of engine components, as well as in engine maintenance and repair within workshops, and the supply of aircraft engine parts to customers.
Slobodan Četić, Executive Director for Quality and Laboratories at “Orao”, stated that the training was delivered by Professor Rade Savić from the Aviation Academy in Belgrade. He added that the RM13010 standard encompasses specific requirements within aviation standards AS13100 and EN9100, which are required of companies working with Rolls-Royce, Pratt & Whitney, GE Aerospace, Safran, and MTU.
“Training on RM13010 enables a systematic understanding of errors caused by human factors and facilitates learning from them. Organizations that apply this approach achieve more reliable results, a lower rate of recurring errors, and a higher level of safety. Approximately 120 colleagues participated in the training, including technicians, planners, mechanical engineers, and all employees directly involved in production, service delivery, and product distribution,” Četić said.
According to him, participants had the opportunity to understand, through both practical and theoretical examples, how systems, working conditions, and interpersonal relationships affect performance and safety in an engine-related environment.
“The primary responsibility in production lies with the worker, who must be aware of every action taken. Numerous factors can influence performance, from stress and noise to vibrations and insufficient lighting, which can prevent the achievement of efficient results. By identifying and eliminating the root causes of errors, we strengthen the entire system,” Četić emphasized.
He added that “Orao” conducts similar training sessions every two years, depending on the applicable standards, with the aim of improving the existing quality system and meeting customer requirements through high-quality products and services.
